Hoosier Grassfed Beef is a family-owned farm located in Attica, IN. Our father, Dan DeSutter helped start HGB alongside Rich Hollinger in 2000, after learning of the profound health impacts that grassfed beef can have on the body. Our family operates an organic row-crop farm in conjunction with our beef business. Both of these businesses have always had soil health at the top of their priority list. On top of the health benefits that grassfed beef can offer, cattle can accelerate the improvements in the soil.
Our cows graze fresh pasture throughout the year. By pairing the cattle herd with our row-crop model, the cows are able to utilize cover crops in the off season. This increases the number of days the cows are on fresh pasture. Although these practices increase the amount of fresh pasture we can use, throughout the winter months they are supplemented with quality stored forages raised on our farm. The herd is moved into a new paddock each day, giving them access to mature pasture.
